Getting to know the Mazak company

Mazak (Yamazaki Mazak) is a Japanese corporation was founded in 1919 in Nagoya by Sadakichi Yamazaki as a small company making pots and pans. Over the years, Mazak progressed through mat-making machinery to woodworking and then to metalworking machine tools. Now, the company as been renowned as the leading global source of advancement of machinery in the industry tools, known for their advanced tools such as CNC turning centers, machining centers, laser processing machines and more. The corporation itself has over 10 technical factories or plants in other countries: Japan, United States of America, United Kingdom, China and Singapore. The company offers a wide range of machines, different models of which have been renamed all throughout the past few years.

There are over a hundred types of machines that the Mazak produces. One of which is Computer Numerical Control. Computer Numerical Control machines, also known as CNC, is a machine that processes certain elements such as metal, wood, ceramic, plastic or composite, to meet specifications by following a coded program instruction without a manual operator directly controlling the machine operation. It follows a specific instruction to deliver a certain material into life. The basic principle of using a CNC operation is that the movement of the X, Y, Z axis are controlled. This gives the machine to operate in currents (current or direct current). The speed, depth, shape is all under the command part of the machine.

The corporation made its first CNC machine in Kentucky. The Mazak CNC Machine is fairly known as reliable and reasonable at price. The Mazak lineup consists of various types of CNC machines: CNC Drilling, CNC Milling, CNC lathes, CNC Turning, CNC plasma cutters and CNC grinders.

Mazak Turning Center Lineup:

  • Cybertech Turn
  • Dual turn
  • HQR
  • Mazak Integrex series
  • Mega
  • Mega turn
  • Multiplex II
  • Multiplex W
  • Orbitec
  • QT-Primos
  • QTU
  • Quick turn
  • Quick Turn G6
  • Quick turn Nexus
  • Slant Turn

A CNC Lathe is a versatile computer controlled piece of machine. This equipment allows the operation of what is called “turning” and “drilling”. This makes the material appear more cylindrical or oblong in shaped components. The Mazak corporation has a selection of several types of lathes that can be used in CNC turning.

Mazak CNC Lathe Lineup:

  • Horizontal CNC lathes – The most commonly used
  • vertical CNC lathes – Holds the workpiece from the bottom and spins
  • Horizontal Turning Center – Has milling and drilling capabilities that also includes a conveyor belt and coolant flooding
  • Vertical Turning Center – A combination of a horizontal turning center and CNC mill
